Our extra-curricular highlights
Debating and public speaking
Students can develop their thinking, communication and teamwork skills through debating and public speaking. They also have the chance to compete in local and state events.
Creative and performing arts
Our drama, music and art programs help students be creative and express themselves. They can join in concerts, art shows and drama activities.
Trips and excursions
Our students enjoy getting out of the classroom to explore, learn and try new things. These experiences help them grow, build confidence and see how their learning connects to the world.
Student Representative Council
Student voice is about students sharing their ideas, opinions, and perspectives, and having them genuinely listened to and acted on. It means creating a safe environment where all students feel heard and can shape decisions in the classroom, across the school, and in the wider community.
The Student Representative Council (SRC) builds trust, motivation, and shared purpose across the school community through genuine student partnership.
The Stephanie Alexander Kitchen Garden
The Stephanie Alexander Kitchen Garden Program is an educational initiative in schools that teaches children about food by having them grow, harvest, and prepare meals together.
The program focuses on "pleasurable food education" to build lifelong positive food habits. Research shows it improves food literacy, student wellbeing, social skills, and engagement with learning, with benefits also extending to mental and social health.
Technology
Gorokan Public School offers a wealth of technological resources designed to enhance student learning and support their education.
Star Struck Dancers
Star Struck is an exciting performing arts opportunity where our talented students take to the stage in a large-scale production featuring multiple dynamic shows each year. Through energetic dance routines, teamwork, and creative expression, students build confidence, develop new skills, and create unforgettable memories. Being part of Star Struck allows our performers to represent our school with pride, connect with others across the region, and experience the thrill of performing in a professional arena. It is a truly special and enriching experience for all involved.

League Tag
Our Stage 2 and Stage 3 league tag teams proudly represent our school each year at the NRL-run gala day, versing a range of schools across the Wallarah zone. These teams provide invaluable opportunities for students to develop teamwork, physical skills, confidence, social skills and long-lasting friendships.
In the weeks leading up to the gala day, students participate in regular training sessions to build their skills and understanding of the game, helping them feel prepared and excited. The gala day itself is a fun, energetic and memorable experience for everyone involved, fostering a positive learning environment beyond the classroom.
