About our school

Located in the Wyong Shire of NSW, Gorokan Public School has a current enrolment of 567 students of which 19% are of Aboriginal or Torres Strait Islander descent, and 9% from language backgrounds other than English.

The school's motto, Learn to Live, underpins the quality education and the diverse opportunities that the school offers. The students are provided with modern resources to cater for all interests and to engage them in the learning process. The school services a diverse community, is supported by equity funding and is an Early Action For Success targeted school. Students are supported with a broad, flexible and innovative learning program incorporating academic, sporting, performing and cultural arenas. The school is committed towards maximising the potential of all students. The school provides a safe and supportive learning environment that is strongly focused on the engagement and wellbeing of students, staff and the community. The School as Community Centre facilitator, Aboriginal Education Officer and School Learning Support Team are available to further assist students and their families. Gorokan Public School works collaboratively with the Murui Bulbi AECG and the Wallarah Learning Community of local Primary and High Schools to develop the continuum of learning from K to 12. Teachers, support staff, learning support officers and clerical staff are all united in delivering a quality educational experience for our students. Our teaching staff are committed to improving academic outcomes for all students focused on achievement to ensure we are meeting the educational needs of 21st century learners.

Gorokan Public School's motto, Learn To Live, underpins the quality education that we provide. As a Priority Funded School, our focus is on literacy, numeracy, and student engagement. Programs such as Accelerated Literacy and hands-on mathematics feature in explicit, relevant teaching, with interactive whiteboards and computer technology enhancing classroom learning. Students participate in a variety of sporting and cultural activities. An inclusive curriculum supports Aboriginal Education, whilst our welfare system reflects core values. Our experienced and dedicated staff actively promotes partnerships between home and school. Our school is a proud partner of the Wallarah Area Learning Community and the Murui Bulbi AECG.
